Our client is a global leader in the distribution of automotive and industrial replacement parts, operating in 17 countries with over 60,000 employees. As we expand their data-driven approach to product discovery and catalog management, they are seeking a Senior Product Manager – Data Science to lead innovative projects in product search, discovery, and recommendations.


Position Overview:

We are looking for a Senior Product Manager – Data Science to lead data-driven product initiatives focused on search optimization, product discovery, and recommendations. This role will play a pivotal part in enhancing the user experience by leveraging machine learning (ML) and artificial intelligence (AI) to improve search relevance and speed.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in search and recommendations and experience collaborating with data science, engineering, and UX teams. This position requires a strategic thinker with hands-on experience in managing data-driven products, a deep understanding of Google-like search functionalities, and a proven ability to drive product innovation using AI/ML technologies.


Key Responsibilities:

Strategic Leadership:

  • Define and execute the product strategy for data science-powered product discovery and search optimization.
  • Translate business objectives into data-driven product solutions.
  • Maintain a strong understanding of the competitive landscape and emerging AI/ML technologies to drive innovation.
  • Collaborate closely with engineering, UX, and data science teams to build scalable and effective solutions.

Product Execution:

  • Own and maintain the product roadmap for search, recommendations, and discovery tools.
  • Drive prioritization of AI-powered features, balancing business goals, technical feasibility, and customer impact.
  • Define and track KPIs and success metrics to measure product performance and iterate on solutions.
  • Conduct A/B testing and experimentation to optimize search ranking and relevance.
  • Oversee the end-to-end product development lifecycle, from ideation to execution.

Cross-Functional Collaboration:

  • Work closely with Scrum Masters, QA Engineers, UX Architects, and data scientists to build intelligent search solutions.
  • Serve as the primary liaison between stakeholders, ensuring alignment across product, engineering, and business teams.
  • Partner with CRM and Intelligence teams to integrate customer data into product discovery models.
  • Advocate for a data-first product approach, ensuring AI/ML models are properly validated and optimized.

Qualifications & Experience:

Must-Have Skills:

  • 5+ years of product management experience with a focus on data science-driven products, search, and recommendations.
  • Experience managing AI/ML-based product discovery tools and search functionalities.
  • Strong expertise in search algorithms, NLP, and data science applications.
  • Hands-on experience with Google BigQuery (GBQ) and SQL for data analysis.
  • Proficiency in Figma, wireframing, and prototyping tools to collaborate effectively with UX teams.
  • Ability to push back and stand firm when working with engineering teams to drive execution.
  • Experience conducting competitive analysis and distilling insights into actionable recommendations.
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to articulate complex AI/ML concepts to non-technical teams.

Nice-to-Have Skills:

  • Experience working with CRM platforms (Salesforce preferred) and integrating customer data into AI-powered search models.
  • Background in Google-like search optimization and semantic search applications.
  • Experience with data visualization tools for consumer-level insights.
  • Knowledge of BYOD policy implications for contractor equipment needs.

Work Environment & Compensation:

  • Hybrid Role: Onsite 3-4 days per week (Duluth or Smyrna, GA).
  • Contract Duration: 6-month W2 contract-to-hire with benefits.
  • BYOD Policy: Contractors are required to bring their own devices.

The hourly pay range for this position (dependent on factors including but not limited to client requirements, experience, statutory considerations, and location) is $70 to $80/hr.  Benefits available to full-time employees: medical, dental, vision, disability, life insurance, 401k and commuter benefits.
